Commissions!

6 min read
I have five commission slots currently available. Please note me if you are interested or have questions.

I am offering animal portrait (upper body/face) or full body commissions in traditional media only. I use watercolors paints and watercolor pencils/prismacolor pencils with white gouache/waterproof ink for highlights.

Paper size and type: 8.5X11 inch watercolor paper. I tape down the paper to prevent it from buckling due to exposure to water as I use lots of it to create the effects I am after. This takes away about ¼ inch around the entire piece of paper, so the actual colored image will not be a full 8.5X11 inches. You can request that I do not tape down the paper, although this could result in significant paper buckling.

Here is an example of what a piece looks like after I peel off the tape
 once the image is dry:

Terms of Service:
Before I begin a commission I will talk with you about your expectations and any concerns you have about your work such as color scheme, composition and the overall mood. I want to create an image that you are happy with. I work very well with photo references so if you have photographs of your subject please let me know!

Payment method: I use PayPal only. The payment is made before I start on the commission in full.

Time: Your commission will take no longer than 60 days for me to complete. This is due to time restraints of my full time job.

Refund Policy: Clients will receive a full refund if they cancel before I begin working on their commission or if I have to cancel for my own reason.

What I will not draw: I will not draw materials that contain gore, violence or sexual acts/fetishes. This does not include nudity, as long as it is conveyed in a natural/artistic manner. I have the right to refuse commissions with no explanation.

Hello everyone! I wanted to touch base with everyone and ask some questions regarding productivity.

I'm struggling with working full time and finding enough creative time to focus on my artwork. I am very grateful to have a good paying job in this day and age with full benefits, but I am struggling with balancing work, daily life routine, outdoor time, boyfriend, artwork, etc. My goal is to eventually become at least a part time artist, working around 20-30 hours on art a week when finances permit. My dream is to become an illustrator primarily focused on nature/fantasy subjects, but right now it is not an option, unless I find a way to bring in enough commissions to pay my rent and living expenses lol

So, to all of my artist friends out there, it doesn't matter if you are a full time artist or not...how do you find the time and energy to work on your artwork and also balance the rest of your life without becoming burnt out? I find my art dreams so to speak drive me through the week so that I can spend weekends on paintings or sculptures. Sometimes I can work on ideas/sketches after work if my creative energies are flowing.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

 Hello everyone, it's been a busy summer and I'm happy to say that I'm down to working one full time job again, with a significant raise so I can pay my bills much easier now. I don't really share much of my personal life here on DA, but as you can tell from my artwork I LOVE the outdoors and nature. I love where I live and plan on spending the last few weekends of summer outside before it gets cold. I was lucky enough to work a seasonal job at Garden of the Gods here where I live in Colorado Springs. Here is a website to the park: Garden of the Gods

I worked as park safety patrol staff and LOVED IT. Because I was outside so much I was able to take photographs of the resident wildlife there. Below are some of photos of what I experienced on the job.

My friend Wes and I rescued a Bullsnake (Pituophis catenifer sayi) from some very thick plastic string that it couldn't escape from. I held the snake while Wes cut him loose with a knife. There were like a gazillion people taking photos of the whole ordeal lol.

Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis)! They came down from the surrounding mountains almost daily. On multiple occasions we had to stop traffic to allow them to cross over into the park. An awesome sight!

Scrub Jays (Aphelocoma californica) were everywhere! I love these birds, very beautiful animals and extremely intelligent along with the ravens that fly around everywhere.

Don't forget the small little mammals! Chipmunks (Tamias quadrivittatus) were everywhere and loved to sneak up on people, especially when they had food.

Don't forget Colorado's crazy weather. I worked through rain, sleet, hail and extremely powerful wind. Here is a shot I took in the evening facing south after one of our almost daily storms.

I just wanted to share a little more about myself and what inspires me to create my artwork. I've been noticing that my artwork evolves quicker when I surround myself with what I love. It is a balancing act for me. Work, getting outside, then creating. I'm curious to see how many other artists here have full time jobs, and also find time to do what they love and create artwork too. What makes it easier for you? I find it hard sometimes to focus on what I want to create, because I need to draw the inspiration from somewhere.

Anyway, thanks for all of the feedback on my latest works! I truly appreciate the art community here. :peace:

I just want to thank everybody for giving me the happy birthday wishes. I appreciate every watcher her on DA and I fell that I can't do you all justice because I cannot reply to every comment, but I do promise that I read each one and I take every one to heart.

I have recently started a new job on top of my other one so I am averaging about 45 hours a week, sometimes I work 50. I apologize for my lack of activity here. More artwork is one the way! I just have to scan in some final paintings and finish a detailed tutorial for one of them.
