A Night’s Whisper

Darkness comes, fleeting through still air
Lands breathe under the star’s quiet gaze
Reflecting through silence
On this night
I hear them…

Sometimes you have to stand alone to hear a message, and stand in darkness to see again.

I have just recently moved to Colorado and during my moving experiences there was a fire occurring on the mountains where I live. The fire was called the Waldo Canyon Fire. It is amazing to see a fire’s destructive and healing powers occur only miles away from where you live. There are now big black mountains with valleys of green earth that had not been touched. It is truly a great source of inspiration.

As far as the painting goes, the trees in the background are supposed to be the scars left over from the fire. This is a lone wolf in the Rockies, a wolf that wants to call Colorado its home. The absence of the moon symbolizes this wolf standing alone in the wilderness, but without the moon he can see how many stars actually watch over him from above. He can find himself again in these stars. This is the hope that one day wild wolves will once again find a place to live in Colorado.

The background very difficult as I tried to draw burned trees left over from the fire. The sky was my favorite part though! So many stars!
