This picture started when I was outside sketching a tree in my backyard. Most of my tree animals start with the tree, and an animal will appear along the way. Starting with the bark textures and foliage helps to calm and relax my mind, and the animal brings me even more of a connection the drawing.

I wanted to him a gnarled root look and make the tree look like it was changing from a dead winter to spring. I like the overlapping of the green over the brown bark-making it look almost like the bark is fading into the growth. It sort of reminds me of honey comb! ^^

In a way this is art therapy! Tree animals!

If anything I'd like to see more people to do this kind of organic elemental art, and share it with every one. There is no right or wrong way to draw a tree. I find this to be very rewarding! Try it and show me what you come up with!

The liquid coming out of this elemental is tree sap. Hopefully I can expand a bit on the concpet and make it look less like he's crying, though I still want to have a sort of 'filtering' effect.
