From Flame...by *Aikya

Traditional Art / Drawings / Fantasy

Burn...

...Climbing embers spiral between the crevasses, breaking the threshold of roots. A breathing rhythm chases between bark and vines. The Fire Spirits left nothing but their pulsing hoof prints in the ground as they fled into the woods, echoing after a storm far greater than themselves…

Thought I’d challenge myself and draw a more dynamic pose. This was extremely fun to work on, and with colors I don’t usually use. More experimenting!

Horses have a pad on the bottom of their feet called the frog. It’s always looked like a heart and for me it symbolizes the magnificent pulsing energy of this animal.

This was done in watercolor pencils on 90 lb. paper. It took me a week to find the courage to apply water to it since 90 lb. paper buckles really bad. I had to be careful not to saturate the paper, which was all a great learning experience.

Flames are so unpredictable-I usually end up drawing them like branches or leaves. Enjoy!
