I apologize for the poor quality of this picture, let me explain
Ok so I got going on this idea Ive had for a while of an underwater forest-originally the equine creature was supposed to be pulling a tree made of kelp, when the idea shifted to him having lungs and a tail that formed a giant bubble instead-sort of like when you first jump into water and there is a huge cape of oxygen that follows you under. Ive been swimming a lot lately.
Then after an hour of working on the picture a thunderstorm approached. I was outside watching it come in when I thought; wouldnt it be neat to let the rain drip onto the water soluble pencils? I decided to take the risk and let it happen. It was fun, taking away my ability to control what was going to happen to this picture. It feels good to surrender to the art and not trying to bring out an end result.
The water started to cover the paper when the wind picked up. It almost blew the paper away so my brother and I went inside just before 60 mph winds blew away our tables umbrella! XD Then it started to hail. After that I decided to work on this picture for as long as the storm lasted and then stop, no matter how far I had gotten, which was about another hour. I dont know why, but it felt really good to do this, even if the results werent as clear as I had seen them in the beginning.
Mediums used: Watercolor pencils on acrylic paper, water directly from clouds overhead ^^ Original is 6X12 in.
I love that. Actually, I think your surrendering control of the picture only emphasizes the element - it makes it more powerful. Water doesn't have a definite shape; it changes, it's uneven, flawed, but still whole. I think you managed to capture the nature and spirit of the element perfectly. The shape of the figure seems to change the more you look at it - bits spout off and blur, it's hard to see a definite outline. Just like water.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
