I'm working with this new paper called Ingres Paper. This is a steel gray 27 lb. Paper. It works real well with pastels and provides a nice midtone. I like it because you can see my strokes and it has a nice rough texture.

It's fast and easy to work with. This is a 20 minute drawing. I'm trying to understand the lights and darks on a horse's face.

I'm thinking about taking commissions of animal portraits, we'll see! If you have a reference photo that you would prefer me to use, please send it to me via e-mail at undefinedangel@cox.net.

Very nice work, I love the cross hatching at the neck and the shadows on the face.
The fact that you've allowed the grey of the paper to act as the shadowed region on the neck is also well done. The way the face is drawn, I can tell it's an Arabian!:D
The only thing I would like to point out is the odd elevation near the nose.

I'm a big fan of drawings that have faded out parts-it was fun trying to figure out how to do that with his shoulder-which sort of made him look like a dapple gray ^^
